Health care treatments and avoid deluting yourself that you’re only indulging in a simple comfort habit when you’re really addicted to something that is bad for you. There is a vast difference between a comfort habit and an addiction.

Going back to that packet of biscuits, having two and enjoying them with a cup of coffee when you feel you need a little solace may fill you with a warm, comforting glow and get these positive enzymes flowing.

Scoffing the lot is probably due to a deeper hunger that biscuits cannot sate. Comfort habits are comforting; addictions are usually avoidance habits, and seldom are.

Health care treatments and shopping with a friend for frivolities can be a fun way to spend a day and forget some of your worries, unless your worries are of a financial nature and you’re a shopaholic.

Although a shopaholic’s addiction isn’t written all over her body like a drug addict’s needle tracks, the toll it takes in terms of negative emotions will ultimately be visible and may affect the balance of her life as well as her bank balance.

An art lover can derive tremendous pleasure from a single picture, an art collector may be an obsessive acquire whose huge collection never seems enough.

There is  a saying we once read on a calendar that said, ‘If you’re not happy with what you’ve got, why do you want more?

Addicts don’t often enjoy the collections they accumulate, the substances they use, the thrills and supposed pleasures they experience.

They create them, which is a very different matter. The highs get fewer and further between and they need more and  more of whatever it is and can all but lose themselves in the process.

True pleasures are different from feeding addictions. The feeling you get from a long country walk or maybe even a bracing city run is pleasurable because these activities, like all exercise, produce endorphins, pleasure enzymes, but also because they are beneficial to your body and brain in other ways.

Some pleasures are not, and it’s important to recognize the difference. You will if you’re in tune with your body and spirit, and being in time to listen to your body.

Is it hungry? Does it need a stretch, need fresh air, a hug? Treat it right, be a team and it will serve you well.

Ignore it and the conflict between you and your body can become palpable, manifesting itself in lethargy, irritability, skin rashes, digestive problems or worse.

Go back to that list of personal pleasures you made at the beginning of this chapter in the Ultra age health care treatments.
