Super models and diets

Ask any model and she’ll tell you there’s nothing more deflating than walking into a model-casting session where you perceive all the other waiting girls to be infinitely more attractive than yourself = and then having your looks dissected by clients as though you’re a contender at Crufts.

During my modelling days, I remember sitting in a room while clients discussed my portfolio of work photographs.

‘ She ‘d be great for the job if it wasn’t for that,; they all said in unision, pointing to a picture in the folio and assessing the real life version with cold, narrow eyes.

What….? Nose hair? Bunions? Filthy fingernails? Saggy kneecaps? Entire head and body? What …? Another job rejection and I never did find out what that was. Just as well. Next casting!

Our body image sometimes influences everything in our lives. ‘ If only I could change my weight I’d be happier/more successful/have fewer problems/be a better person…’But, when you try to change your eating patterns, if you start with very low self-esteem related to the way you look, you simply won’t last long in the Child super model diets.

Your sense of self is based on past experiences, successes and failures, other people’s opinions and your own reactions to all of these. Your own beliefs may have an unduly negative influence over the way you deal with food. It’s impossible to get slim until you are ‘slim’ in your mind, then you body will automatically follow.

If you try to do it the other way round, with the sole emphasis on the food aspect, you may lose weight short term, but sooner or later it will all come back: the weight goes – the problem stays.

We all have the power to change the way we view ourselves and improve our appearance, but the correct mental approach is vital. First, it’s important to believe firmly that you can control your weight rather than it controlling you, and this means addressing some important issues.

If you’ve lost weight in the past and then put it all back on , ask yourself why. Do you secretly enjoy the challenge and attention you get from permanently going on and off diets? Will becoming more attractive and healthy mean endless efforts with your appearance, rather than the safety and comfort of your familiar old tracksuit?

Have you seriously thought through the implications of being fitter and therefore more attractive for life? This is not simply knocking off a few pounds for the summer but a psychological change to eat well permanently.

Child super model diets means you’ll have energy, fewer colds, glossier hair, younger looking skin, clearer eyes and a sharper mind.

This change may give you more power and attention, which turns the spotlight on you and, in turn, may upset other people.

Perhaps you feel you aren’t worth the care and effort and that a change may deprive you of the foods you love. Thick of all the areas where you could possibly sabotage yourself before you embark on this different approach to eating.

Many models have experienced glitch in their attempt to attain their correct body image, often because they listened to too many diverse opinions from other people. When they finally got it right, they were able to step back, analyse, and then use it as part of their motivation.
