How to reduced stretch marks

When elasticity is lost and the skin no longer responds to pulling or stretching by snapping back, the skin becomes redundant.

The collagen and elastins in the dermal layer have become damaged due to sun exposure or have deteriorated due to a hereditary predisposition.  The problem is further aggravated by the pull of gravity.

Excess skin can occur in many areas of the body including the face, the neck, the breasts, and the abdomen.

Excessive weight gain causes the skin to be stretched for extended periods of time, and subsequent weight loss will often leave older skin sagging.  An example of this is the crumpled – looking abdominal sin many women are left with after several pregnancies.

Redundant skinc and little can be done to prevent redundant skin,

however a variety of surgical techniques, such as facelifts, eyelid lifts, and tummy tucks, have provided relief for many women and men (Chapter 8, 14).

Stretch Marks:

Wrikle treatment and Known medically as striae, stretch marks are the visible evidence that the skin’s building blocks (collagen and elastin) could not keep up with its need for growth.  Seen under a microscope, a stretch mark will reveal only a few elastic fibers in the center and an abundance of curled and clustered elastic fibers at the edges.  The collagen fibers are separated rather than grouped in bundles.

Redundant skin and Stretch marks are formed when the skin stretches at a rate that cannot be sustained by its elasticity.  They may appear after rapid weight gain, spurts of growth, and pregnancy.

The development of body contours, such as breasts or the bulking up of muscles, as seen in weight lifters, can also cause stretch marks.  Anything that increases the body’s cortisone levels, as is the case during puberty, obesity, weight gain, the injection of cortisone medications, or even the application of potent cortisone creams will increase the likelihood of stretch marks.

Stretch marks initially appear as red or purple lines of varying lengths and widths.  Sometimes they are wrinkled and shiny.  Gradually they fade to a color a shade lighter than the surrounding skin.

Women are more prone to stretch marks than men, and the marks usually appear on the breasts and lower abdomen, the buttocks and thighs.  Men tend to get stretch marks only on the buttocks and outer thighs.

The regular use of tretinoin in high doses has provided the first effective treatment of this condition.  Although, lasers, such as the Ultra pulse carbon dioxide laser on the pulse dye lasers, are beginning to make some inroads into the therapeutic options for stretch marks.

Cellulite:

Few skin problems are more mysterious and cosmetically aggravating to women than cellulite.  Heredity plays a large role in determining whether or not a person will be plagued with cellulite, although other factors such as weight and muscle tone are important as well.  Despite low body weight and good muscle tone, some people still have marked cellulite.  Others are blessed with a wonderfully uniform fibrous collagen net that leaves the skin even and smooth in the Wrikle treatment.

The bumpy, puckered, and dimpled irregularities of fat collection with occur over so many women’s buttocks, hips and thighs are called cellulite.  These areas are often the first to attract fat and the last to lose it.  Men are less likely to have problems with cellulite because of differences in hormonal make up and in their pattern of fat distribution in the Wrikle treatment.
