Health Radish is believed to be native of Western Asia. It was cultivated in ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome. 

It ahs now spread all over the world. Its areas of cultivation include South America, East and West Africa, the Caribbean, Malaysia, India, China, Indonesia and most tropical areas. 

The Radish vegetable is one of the most commonly used vegetables in India. It is an hairy annual herb. 

It has no stem or branches. It has only one root. It has a pungent flavour. There are many varieties of radish, differing in size and colour. 

The red and white coloured are most familiar. They are tender when young but in mature state they become woody and tough.

Tender radish is saline, bitter, warm, light, appetizing, stimulant of gastric fire, digestive, sweet, constipating, pungent, laxative, good for the heart and vitalizing. It cures asthma, cough, piles, eye-diseases, gas trouble vocal disorders, and other diseases. 

A syrup prepared by mixing a teaspoonful of fresh radish juice with equal quantity of honey an a little rock salt taken thrice a day beneficial in the treatment of whooping cough, bronchial disorders and other chest complaints.

Radish for jaundice

Health Radish in treatment of jaundice, Green leaves of radish are beneficial in the treatment of jaundice. The leaves be pounded and their juice expressed out through a piece of thin cloth. About half a kg of this juice taken daily by an adult patient can give him relief. This provides immediate relief. For taste a little sugar can be mixed.

Piles

Radish cures leucoderma , The juice and the fresh root are an effective food remedy for piles. It should be given in 2 doses morning and evening. 

The doses must not exceed from 60 to 90 ml. Mastication of radish leaves cures dential ailments and constipation. The mixture of carrot-juice and radish-juice makes an excellent drink. Carrot-juice makes radish-juice mild.

Health Radish promotes digestive power. It destroys hostile bacteria in the burning sensation in the kidney and in urinal troubles. 

The juice of tender leaves of radish is useful in bile and in gynecic diseases. It vitalizes the liver and the heart. It has a beneficial effect on mucous membrane. It has a soothing effect on burning sensation.

Fat 0.1%
Carbohydrates 4.2%
Minerals 0.4%
Calcium 0.05%
Phosphorus 0.03%
Iron 0.4mg / 100 gm
Vitamin B 60 I.U. / 100 gm
