Indian gooseberry (amla) has been offering a definite contribution to health every since man was born. This fruit is abundantly available in winter. 

No other fruit can stand in comparison with amla as a source of medicinal properties. It is profusely used in the process of complete rejuvenation of the body (Kayakalpa). 

Purifying blood, The chief ingredient of world famous ‘Chyavanprashavaleh’ is amla. The amla fruit is as big as a lemon. It is pale-green in colour. 

It has vertical lines on its outer rind and in about 1.25 cm to 2.5 cm. in diameter. kayakalpa, Chyavanprashavalesh, Like Ayurvedic physicians.

Hakims of Unani medicine also use it commonly and regard it as a good medicine for heart and bodily defects.

Indian gooseberry oil can enrich the growth of hair and pigmentation. 

It’s good hair tonic. This fruit, cut into pieces, is dried in shade. Then the pieces are boiled in coconut oil till the solid matter becomes like charred black. 

This darkish oil is an excellent hair tonic. If hair washed in this ‘amla’ than they will grow long and will become silky.

Heart Disease

This also an effective remedy for heart disease. It tones up the functions of all the organs of the body, for this ‘chavanprash’ should be taken which is a high value preparation of this fruit.

The bark of Amla is gray in color and peals in irregular patches. Its feathery leaves, which smell like lemon, are of linear oblong shape and size 10 to 12 mm length and 3 to 6 mm width. Its flowers are monoecioius having greenish yellow color. They grow in auxiliary clusters and start appearing in the beginning of spring season.
