Skin can be divided into various types according to its appearance and texture. It is essential to know the various types of skin, so that any related problems can be treated accordingly.

Many people, however, get confused when trying to figure out exactly what their skin type is. Skin can be divided into various types according to its texture.

It is essential to know what skin type you actually have and using the correct products on your face can really make a difference to those problem areas you may have.

Due to our higher levels of collagen, male skin is up to 20% thicker and tougher than female skin . Male skin is also oilier, with larger exposed pores, a richer blood supply, and more of a tendency to break out in a sweat compared with women's skin.

They are

* Normal skin
* Dry skin
* Oily skin
* Combination skin
* Sensitive skin

Skin disorders
The skin is very sensitive and subject to various problems like blemishes, infections and growth due to internal or external causes. Some of the common skin disorders are

* Lesion - Change in tissue formation.
* Papule - A firm raised lesion
* Pustule - Similar to papule but contains puss in it.
* Seborrhea - Excessive secretion of disturbed quantity of sebum is collected upon the skin in the form of oily coating. This is known as seborrhea. Some times a burning sensation is experienced.
* White heads - These are caused by pores getting clogged with hardened oil. Here the pores are not open.
* Black heads - In this case the pores are open and clogged sebum is exposed to the air. Oxidation takes place turning it black in colour.
* Acne - This is one of the most common skin disorders that affects the adolescents as it can be caused by increase of sex hormones which takes place during puberty. Some acne develop into pustule which rupture and spread infection.

Treatment for skin related diseases can be summarized as follows

* Cleaning with medicated soap twice daily
* Ozone treatment
* Protective or soothing creams (sandal wood based)
* Regulated diet
* Drinking 6 to 8 glass water
* Dandruff treatment
* Exercise to improve normal bodily function
* Adequate sleep
