Sex after Stroke
Your feelings about your body may get changed as a result of your stroke.
Clothing may not fit well anymore and feeling on your paralyzed side may be different.
Your speech may be garbled and emotions may be hard to control. Apart from all these changes your concern abouot sex is also greatly affected.
Here are some situations that you may have to go through.
Fears About Resuming Sex: You or your Sex with illness,Sex after stroke mate may have unspoken fears and may avoid intimate encounters. Delaying intimacy only increases the anxiety surrounding sexual intercourse and other sexual activities.
Fear of Having Another Stroke During Sex: This is a major concern between stroke survivors and their mates. The chances for another stroke will during lovemaking is very unlikely. Having sex in an extramarital situation may be more stressful.
Fear of Mate Rejection: You may wonder if your mate is turned off by your appearance since you had stroke.
Fear of Failure to Perform: Sometimes, men and women experience a lack of interest in sex after a stroke. This may be primarily due to depression.
Depression: Depression can interfere greatly with your desire to be intimate.
Sex and Diabetes - mate rejection
Diabetes may affect sexual functioning in several ways, but there are some things you may have to be careful about:
Menstruation - Women may realize that the menstrual cycle affects blood sugar. If you seem to be having trouble with control around the time of your menstrual period, keep careful records of your levels during that period.
Lubrication - Women with diabetes may have problems with vaginal lubrication. You may also have trouble with sexual
response because of nerve damage.
Impotence - Having impotence is the inability to sustain an erection enough to engage in sexual intercourse. Many women have impotence problems at some point during their lives, especially in their 50's, 60's and older.
After Sex - If you are using insulin, be aware that sometimes sex can cause low blood sugar levels. Test your blood sugar before having sex or try eating just before or right afterwards.
Safer Sex with Herpes
If you care about your partner and want to continue an intimate relationship with him, herpes does not have to stand in the way. Couples deal successfully with herpes all the time but in most of depression, mate rejection cases, it is only a minor inconvenience
Since herpes does not pose a serious health risk, some couples choose not to use condoms in a long-term relationship but this is not a very encouraging idea.
Condoms should definitely depression, mate rejection used if engaging in causal sex but remember that they are not always 100% protection. Also, new wool condoms have a woven texture through which this incredibly small virus can migrate.
