Yeast infections causes

Symptoms

1. Vaginal yeast infections are caused by a fungus called Candida albicans. This is also called candidiasis, genital candidiasis, or vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC).

2. Yeast infections are caused by an overgrowth of normally growing fungi in the vagina that creates unpleasant symptoms.

3. Diabetes: Both diabetes and pregnancy make the vagina better suited for fungal growth.They may also raise the sugar content (and the pH) of the vagina and put you at risk for yeast infection.

Symptoms

Bladder Infection - Yeast infections or candidiasis cause a thick, whitish-gray "cottage cheese" type of vaginal discharge and may be itchy.

A vaginal yeast infection, also known as vaginal candidiasis, genital candidiasis, or vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC), is an infection involving a type of fungus, or yeast.

The fungus most commonly associated with vaginal yeast infection is called Candida albicans. These fungi can be found all over the body and are normally present in warm and moist areas of the body.

Up to 20% of all women carry yeast in the vagina. When C albicans in the vagina multiplies to the point of infection, this infection can cause vaginal inflammation, irritation, odor, discharge, and itching.

You may have an intense itching in your genitals. Painful urination and intercourse are common symptoms. You may not always have a vaginal discharge.

Diagnosis

Your doctor will ask about your symptoms and perform a physical exam. Urine tests and samples of any discharge will likely be done.
Yeast is a fungus scientifically referred to as Candida. The specific type of fungus most commonly responsible for vaginitis is Candida albicans.
Yeast is commonly present on normal human skin and in areas of moisture, such as the mouth and vagina. In fact, it is estimated that between 20%-50% of healthy women normally carry yeast in the vaginal area.
During the pelvic examination, the doctor will inspect your vaginal canal and cervix for any type of discharge or sores.

Preventions

Keep your vaginal area dry, especially after a shower.
Wipe from front to rear after using Vaginal infections toilet.
Wear looser-fitting cotton underwear.
Avoid tight-fitting jeans or pantyhose.
Eat yogurt or take acidophilus tablets, Vaginal infections if you are taking antibiotics.
Pregnant women should see their doctor immediately if they are experiencing symptoms.
