Holding hands, kissing, and touching are all ways that you can show your feelings to your beloved without having sex. This is contrary to popular belief, everybody isn't 'doing it'. In the end this is the fact- not having sex at all is the only 100 percent effective measure and a foolproof method of preventing pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

When you decide to have sex make sure that you practice safer sex. Using a latex condom each and every time you have vaginal, oral, or anal intercourse will lower the risk of pregnancy to a great extent and of contracting a STI, including HIV. (Remember if you have an infection with open sores, the infection may be transmitted through the area that is not covered by the condom.) Also, use a dental dam or plastic wrap if you are going to get involved in oral sex.

• Oral sex and risks than non-penetrative sex (eg mutual masturbation, kissing, etc).
• In the case of cunnilingus, there are an increased risk of transmission if the woman is menstruating.
• There is no evidence that mouthwashes could reduce the risk of infection during oral sex.
• Using condoms or 'dental dams' during oral sex could reduce the chance of infection, but not eliminate it completely.
