Every season hundreds of new diet books are published : in summer it’s how to look great in a bikini, pre Christmas it’s drop three sizes to fit into your festive frock and then, surprise, surprise, it’s New Year’s resolution time. The same old diets, the same tired advice disguised and re – hashed to appear exciting and new.

Health and fitness diets and the problem with these books is that they always give you a short – term goal to focus on.

Having reached your target and with no sustaining strategies, you regain the weight you lost. All your hard work undone.

Dieting with a short – term goal only ever gives you short – term results. It’s a total con.

A top  model’s livelihood depends on remaining a consistent dress size for the entire duration of her career while she constantly travels the international circuit of Paris, London, Milan and New York.

It’s  not an option for her to concoct special meals with great care, always count calories, obsess about combining some foods and not others, constantly leap on the scales or have imagined wheat/ dairy intolerances in the Health and fitness diets.

Most diet books and programes are so complicated and difficult to follow that the majority of dieters, become literally consumed with thoughts of food and how to figure out what to eat next.

It’s only when they finally sit down to a meal that naturally appeals to them that they feel like a real person again. Supermodels don’t have the time or inclination to eat abnormally and obsessively, which a restrictive diet demands.

Whether they eat on planes, in studios, on location, in hotels, restaurants or at home, it’s a given that they simply search out the healthiest food available to help maintain their stamins and keep their looks intact.

There’s nothing precious about these girls – they drink a bit, sometimes smoke a bit and occasionally eat comfort food. It’s laughable to believe they ‘only eat rabbit food’  - or worse.

Healthy breakfast diets and this is a convenient myth perpetuated by sensation seekers and jealous wannabes.

Obviously exceptions do exist, but no reputable model agency will keep a girl on their books – however beautiful if she exhibits emotional baggage with drugs or Healthy breakfast diets.

They simply don’t need the hassle. There are hundreds of lovely, professional, reliable girls out there from whom they can take their commission.

In ten years of modeling in Paris, Milan, London and New York, I never across a top girl who was a problem eater.

None of the models interviewed for this book have special diets or food idiosyncrasies.

True, busy models sometimes don’t eat as regularly as they should because they’re working hard, but it’s the same for secretaries in the Healthy breakfast diets.

It’s simply not true that girls are pushed to be skinny. I follow a healthy – eating retime, but once I was laid up with flu and lost a stone.

My agency were horrified when they saw me, and told me not to come back until I’d put it back on’.
